Salt Water Flush Recipe

If you are going to be doing the Cayenne Pepper Cleanse, then you also want to make sure that are you using the salt water flush as that is also part of the Master Cleanse. Unlike the batch of lemonade mix, you only drink the salt water flush once a day. Actually, I’m probably being generous when I saw drink, it is more like “choke it down”. It does not taste great, but you only need to use it once a day and it will do a lot of work to clear you right out. So just hold put your tastebuds on hold for a moment and swallow it down.

You are going to do the salt water flush when you get up in the morning. The salt water flush recipe is easy. All you need is:

  • One quart (32 ounces) of room temperature or lukewarm water;
  • Two level teaspoons of sea salt

Do not use regular table salt for this. You want to use non-iodized sea salt. Using table salt will not work as well at all. Also, if you find the taste of this drink truly distasteful, squeeze a little lemon or lime into it. It won’t do any harm and it will make drinking 32 ounces of the stuff a lot easier.

When to drink it

The Master Cleanse salt water flush should really be done as soon as you get up in the morning, even before having something else to eat or drink. But there is one thing to keep in mind. YOu need to allow enough time for it to get through you. Most folks find that they will have to urgently make a bowel movment within 30 minutes of drinking the salt water, so you do not want to be drinking it before you have to run out the door to get the kids to school. You’ll want to be near a bathroom. Trust me.

In The Master Cleanser, Dr. Burroughs suggests that you need to drink the full quart of fluid, but I personally do not think that you should force it down if you really cannot stand it. Try drinking a glass or two and see what happens. The idea behind the salt water flush is to FLUSH you out. If 16 ounces does the trick there is no reason to drink more of it.

If you find that it does not work for you or you just can’t make yourself drink it, try switching to a laxative tea. Burroughts recommends an herbal laxative tea such as senna. Normally you would drink this a night while following the Cayenne Pepper Cleanse, but you can also have it in the morning if you are electing to skip the Salt Water Flush.

There are quite a few alternative health practitioners who think the salt water flush is unnecessary while doing the Master Cleanse. And for some health conditions, it may be unwise as well, so like anything else related to your health, if you have some concerns you should clear them with your doctor before doing any kind of fasting or cleanse routine.

In addition to the salt water flush, I have also written up the details for the cayenne pepper cleanse recipe as well, so be sure to have all of your ingredients gathered together before you start, including your sea salt. It will make things so much easier.
